
Master Wong Chi Yuen (黃志遠)
Master Wong Chi Yuen (黃志遠), Chairman of the Lee Koon Hung Choy Lay
Fut Kung Fu Association (Hong Kong), is a native of Tung Kun (東莞),
Canton (廣東).
He learnt Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu at the age of 15 (1976)
with his cousin from the Great Master Lee Koon Hung. As a result
of his diligent learning and hard training regardless of the weather
and was thus regarded highly by the Great Master Lee, who did all
he could to teach Wong. After three years of hard learning, training
and practising, Wong was appointed as instructor by Great Master
Lee and assisted him to run the business of Lee's Kung Fu Institute.
Wong's skill and knowledge in Choy Lay Fut were enriched through
teaching benefits as instructor as well as student. Teaching made
Wong getting a thorough understanding of Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. Master
Wong also often represented the Association demonstrating Choy Lay
Fut Kung Fu and participating Kung Fu competitions. In 1989 Master
Wong was employed as a full time Kung Fu performer in the Ocean
Park of Hong Kong. In order to carry forward and pass on Choy Lay
Fut Kung Fu, Master Wong taught Kung Fu after work. In 1996, Master
Wong was invited by fellows to teach Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu in Tai
Chung Hau Village, Sai Kung (西貢大涌口村). Students mainly came from
nearby villages. Master Wong's good teaching method earned him respect
and admiration from the then villagers. In 1999 Master Wong was
employed to run lion dance classes in Mang Kung Uk Village, Sai
Kung (西貢孟公屋村). Master Wong is a qualified instructor of Chinese
Martial Arts and Lion Dance awarded by the Hong Kong Chinese Martial
Arts Association and the Hong Kong Instructor Training Association.
