| About us |
Aims:
The aims of the Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut Lee Koon Hung Kung
Fu Association (Hong Kong) are to unite with all practitioners
of Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut all over the world, carry out the
behest of Great Master Lee Koon Hung, and to promote and carry
forward Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu.
History:
In the late 1960s Great Master Lee Koon Hung taught Choy
Lay Fut Kung Fu at the Chinese Martial Arts Section of the
Sit Ying Sports Association (息影體育會國術部) in Kowloon City and
participated various Chinese martial arts activities under
the name of "Lee Koon Hung Chinese Martial Arts Association
(李冠雄國術社)" whose office was on the 2nd floor, 25 Nam Kok Road,
Kowloon City (九龍城南角道). At that time, the economic situation
of Hong Kong was not yet flourishing and thus recreational
activities were simple and dull. Coupled with great fervour
of Kung Fu, many people regarded learning Kung Fu after work
as a kind of recreational activity and thus created the golden
age of Chinese Martial Arts associations/institutes. Because
more and more people came to learn Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu at
the Association, there was not enough space to accommodate
them. Therefore, the Association was moved to the rooftop
of the building at 32 Nam Kok Road, Kowloon City and some
students were assigned to attend classes on daytime. During
that time many excellent martial artists were trained, such
as Lee Kui Hung (李鉅雄), Sham Kwok Ming (沈國明)、Mak Hin Fai (麥顯輝),
Lee Chun Hung (李振雄)、Wong Tat Mau (王達謀), Lee Shiu Hung (李紹雄),
Leung Kwok Cheung (梁國昌), Ko Chi Man (高志文), Leung Kam Wah (梁金華),
Lee Wah Sam (李華森), Liu Chi Wing (廖志永), Leung Tak Ming (梁德明),
Hui Ming Fai (許明輝), Yip Ping Nam (葉炳南), Lam Po Chuen (林寶泉),
Lau Chi Sam (劉志森) and Yau Yiu Fai (尤耀輝), etc. They were also
key staff of the Association.
In 1975 the Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut Lee Koon Hung Kung Fu
Association was registered at the 4th floor of thebuilding
at 77 Lion Rock Road, Kowloon City (九龍城獅子石道77號) and moved
to the 2nd floor of the building at 63 Lion Rock Road, Kowloon
City (九龍城獅子石道63號). To conform to the social trend of the times,
children classes were also offered during weekend. In the
1970s many excellent martial artists were trained, such as
Lee Siu Ming (李少明), Wong Chi Yuen (黃志遠), Hong Yip Wah (香葉華),
Pang Ko Chiu (彭高超), Lee Siu Hung (李少雄), Wong Kwok Keung (黃國強),
Yuen Hon Chow (袁康就), Kwung Joe Yin (鄺祖賢), Wong Ho Luen (王浩聯),
Cheung Yung Hay (張容喜), Chan Kwan Wah (陳君華), Chiu Cheuk Ming
(趙卓明), Ho Tak Kam (何德鉗), Lam Yat Sing (林日昇) and foreign disciples馮亞文、郭安、施望尼.
In order to let more and more people understanding Choy Lay
Fut Kung Fu, our Association had jointly organised courses
with community centres since the 1970s by sending our instructors
to different community centres, such as Leung Kwok Cheung
(梁國昌), later replaced by Ho Tak Kam (何德鉗), was sent to the
Lutheran Church Community Centre, Tai Kok Tsui (大角咀路德會沙侖堂),
Wong Tat Mau (王達謀) to the Ping Shek Community Centre of the
Hong Kong Youth Association (香港青年協會坪石中心) and the Ho Man Tin
Community Centre (何文田中心) [note: Instructor of the Ho Man Tin
Community Centre was later replaced by Instructor Lee Shiu
Hung (李紹雄) ], Lee Shiu Hung (李紹雄) to the Lok Fu Community
Centre (樂富中心), Lee Siu Ming (李少明) to the Cho Yiu Community
Centre (祖堯中心), Leung Tak Ming (梁德明) to the Kuwn Tong Shek
An Community Centre (官塘錫安堂中心), Ko Chi Man (高志文) to the Tai
Hom Estate Community Centre (大磡村安徒生中心), and Ng Chi Fung (吳智峰)
to the Chow Bing Gymnasium (周炳健身院).
In 1993 Great Master Lee migrated to Florida, USA. The business
of our Association was also moved to America while the activities
of Hong Kong Association were suspended. Recent years those
fellows remaining in Hong Kong re-registered the Hung Sing
Choy Lay Fut Lee Koon Hung Kung Fu Association (Hong Kong)
to continue the work left by Great Master Lee to develop and
promote Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. Indeed, in 1974 Mak Hin Fai
(麥顯輝) was employed to teach Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu in Honolulu,
USA. Nowadays, our branches are spread over USA, UK, Germany,
South Africa, Italy, Brazil and Hong Kong, etc., particularly
North America, to carry forward and promote the Choy Lay Fut
Kung Fu.
Our Association has been actively participating in the activities
of Chinese Martial Arts no matter whether they are regional
or international functions. Ever since the First Chinese Martial
Arts Emulation (第一次中國武術觀摩大會), organised by the Hong Kong Chinese
Martial Arts Association in 1971, our Association sent representatives
to participate in open contests, performance and demonstration
of Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. In addition, our Association also
participated in various functions and activities organised
by the Hong Kong Kung Fu Association and other Kung Fu fellows.
