Great Master Lee Koon Hung (李冠雄宗師)
Great Master Lee Koon Hung was born in 1942 at Shun Tak (順德), Canton Province (廣東省), China, and died in 1996 at Florida, USA.
Great Master Lee followed his uncles learning some basic Hung Gar (洪家) Kung Fu when he was a young kid. He first learnt Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu at the Kung Fu Institue of Yan Chuk Sang (甄卓生). Later he learnt it from Master Poon Sing (潘城), Master Leung Sai (梁世) and Master Chow Bing (周炳). In addition, he was taught by So Kam Fook (蘇金福) and Leung Shiu Kuen (梁紹權). In the 1970s, he also learnt Northern Style Kung Fu from Shek Kin (石堅), a veteran of Northern Style Kung Fu and famous actor. In the late 1980s, Master Lee also learnt Fu Style Tai Chi Boxing (傅式太極).
As a result of his diligent learning and hard training, Great Master Lee managed to master in Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. In the 1960s, he taught Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu at the Chinese Martial Arts Section of the Sit Ying Sports Association (息影體育會國術部) in Kowloon City. In 1975 he established the Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut Lee Koon Hung Kung Fu Association. In 1980, Great Master Lee was employed to teach Choy Lay Fut Kung Fun at the New Asia College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1983 and 1984 Master Lee was employed as the instructor of Chinese Martial Arts for the 12th and 13th time of TV Artists Training Course run by the HKTVB. In 1993 Great Master Lee migrated to Florida, USA, with his family and continued teaching Choy Lat Fut Kung Fu there as well as preaching the quintessence of Chinese culture. Great Master Lee did not make someone to teach his students/disciples but taught it with his own hands and treated each student/disciple as his own child. He not only taught Kung Fu but also morality, manner, human behaviour to his students/disciples, and thus earned a lot of praise for his work. Great Master Lee was really a good teacher and helpful friend.
